Biography

Sir William Ussher was born ca 1610, the son of Arthur Ussher and Judith Newcomen. He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Dublin in 1661, and knighted on 26 May 1636. He was invested as a Knight on 26 May 1636. He lived at Portrane, County Dublin and at Castle of Grange, County Wicklow, Ireland. He died in Dublin on 23 April 1671.

He married 1st in 1633[citation needed] to Elizabeth Parsons, daughter of Sir William Parsons, 1st Bt. And had 5 children:

  2. Margaret Ussher d. bt 16 Apr 1690 - 3 Jun 1703
  3. Elizabeth Ussher1 d. 1675
  4. Christopher Ussher b. c 1634, d. 1707
  5. Judith Ussher b. 1636, d. 11 Oct 1674

He married, secondly, Ursula St. Barbe, daughter of Captain George St. Barbe, on 14 May 1645, and had seven children:

  3. Arthur Ussher
  4. Henry Ussher d. 1658
  5. Frances Ussher
  6. John Ussher b. 1646, d. 10 Mar 1745
