Freedom, Wis. Age 89, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Monday after a short illness. He was born April 21, 1873 in Freedom. He was a carpenter by trade. He served as town chairman, assessor and town clerk during his lifetime. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Mr. VanDyke is survived by six daughters. Mrs. Herman (Ann) Ebben, Redondo Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Ray (Katherine) Ebben, Milwaukee; Mrs. Frank (Rosella) Ebben, Menasha; Mrs. William (Frances) Derks, Kaukauna; Mrs. Loretts Verstegen, Little Chute; Mrs. William (Genevieve) Martzhall, Kaukauna; four sons, Clarence, Stockton, Calif.; Ignatius, San Francisco; Harold, Kaukauna; Alvin, Freedom; five brothers, Matt, William and John, all of Kaukauna; Peter, Shawano; August, Menasha; two sisters, Mrs. Patrick (Delia) McCarty, Kaukauna; Mrs. John (Ann) Adrian, Appleton; 45 grandchildren, and 85 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Kaukauna after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rosary will be prayed at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.[[1]]
