My family tree originates in the Natal Midlands where my paternal grandfather Lukas Marthinus Johannes van Rooyen and my father Petrus Hendrik van Rooyen were born and grew up on the farm Morgenzon in the Middelrus district of Mooiriver, between Mooiriver and Weenen.

Biography
Born in Durban, Natal, South Africa on 10 March 1974. Went to school at Dirkie Uys junior Primary sgchool, Dirkie Uys Senior Primary school and Dirkie Uys high school. Did national service in 1993 at DTKS in Potchefstroom and joined the military, did some time at Group 8 in East London. Got transferred to Dbn South Commando in 1994. Transferred to Natal Command HQ in 1996. Did officers Formative in 1997 in Pta at Army College. Went to the military academy from 1998 to 1999. Transferred to RJTF Central in 2000. Transferred to SFSU in 2002. Deployed to Burundi in 2003. Continued at SFSU end of 2003. Got married to Alida Jacoba Joubert on 26 June 2004. Welcomed my daughter Aljone' on 23 March 2006. was part of the pilot group of Project Lebaka from 2008 to 2011. On 07 January 2011 welcomed my son Aiden. Transferred to RWU GP in 2012 and am still working there.
