Freeman's Journal (Sydney, NSW : 1850 - 1932) Thursday 3 July 1851 p 12 Family Notices MARRIED. On the 24th June, by the Rev. J. V. Roche, Campbelltown, Michael Dalton, of Sydney, to Ellen, fourth daughter of John Vardy, Esq., Menangle.

Mrs. Ellen Dalton, Redfern,

A well-known Catholic identity in the person of Mrs. Ellen Dalton, relict of the late Michael Dalton, of Pitt-street, Redfern passed peacefully away at the advanced ago of 78 years on August 27. The deceased was a daughter of the late Mr, John Vardy, of Menangle. In her last moments she was attended by one of the nursing staff of the Lewisham Hospital, Rev, Father Phelan, who was most unremitting in his attention to her, administered the last rites of the Church. The funeral left her late residence, Station-street, Petersham, on Friday morning for Waverley Cemetery, where she was inter red. The Very Rev, Fathor Begley, 0. F. M. , officiated at the grave, which was surrounded by a number of her immediate friends and relations, among whom were Mr. M. Dalton (son), Mr. M. J. Vardy (brother), Messrs, H. and A. Rudd (nephews), and Mr. P. J, Lacey (brother-in-law). — R. I. P.
