Married John Arrington 1797

Revolutionary Pension filing lists the marriage date as well as brother John and sister Mary Crosham as well as husband's date of death.

She applied for the restoration of her husband's pension benefits after his death 26 Nov, 1837

Buried with husband in Red Bank, Halifax County, Virginia, at the Buck Shoals Cemetery

Susannah was born in 1778. She was the daughter of John Vaughan and Amelia Jones. She passed away in 1872.

Note: Lucinda was b. in Stokes Co. NC abt. 1827, the dau. of Zebulon Vaughan, b. 1765-1775. She later moved with her older sister Mary to Surry NC. More research is needed.

Full Text of Will. In the name of God amen I Henry Green of the county of Mecklenburg and the state of Virginia being in good bodily health and of sound and XXX mind and memory calling to mind frailty and uncertainly of human life, and being desirous of settling my mortally affairs and d-XXX now the estate with which it has please God to XXX shall be disposed of after my death.While I have strength and capacity so to doe. Doe make and publish this, my last will and testament hereby revoking and making null and void all other last wills and testaments by me heretofore made and XXX I command my immortal to him who grant and my body to the earth.To be buried with such expenses here after named may think proper and as to my worldly estate and all the property real personal or mixed which I shall die XXX and possessed or to which I shall be entitled as the time of my decease.I devise, bequeath and dispose with in the manner and form following to wit.

I XXX my will is that all my just house and formal expended if all in my executors here after assigned be paid out of my estate as soon after my death as shall be.Then to found convenient.

Item 1I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Green all of my estate both real, personal or mixed or what kind service her natural life and should she my said wife Mary Green think to sell all or any part of the estate I may leave with real or personal it is my will she shall doe as with the consent of my last XXX named XXX and she have full power and authority hereby granted her by XXX to convey to the purchase or purchasers a proper deed in XXX to say land or lands she may sell, also a bill of sale to any or all the Negroes she may sell and XXX further XXX the process to hereto by my last XXX named executor for her benefit.

Item 2 I give, bequeath and devise to John Vaughan, William Vaughan and the heirs of Stephan Vaughan and Milley Overby and Moraiah her husband, Susannah Arrington and Sarah Blanks to them and their heirs forever as the d-XXX of the said beloved wife Mary, one moeity of all my estate of every kind except my man Joshua to be equally divided between them.

Item 3 I give and bequeath and devise to Dicey Puryear and Morgan her husband, Patsy Newton and William her husband, Ann Townsend and her husband John and Elizabeth Sizemore and Daniel her husband to them and their heirs forever one forth of my estate of every kind except my man Joshua after the decrease of my beloved wife Mary to be equally divided between them.

Item 4 I give and bequeath and devise to Lucinda Vaughan daughter of Zebadiah Vaughan deceased to her and her heir forever one forth of my estate of every kind except my man Joshua at the decease of my wife and I doe hereby appoint my friend Robert Y. Overby his guardian with full power and authority to lay the same out and XXX in any way he may think fit for XXX.

Item5 In order to make an equal distribution of my estate as above directed I doe herby authorize and request my last mentioned executor hereafter named to sell all of my estate he may think best that may remained unsold at the death of my beloved wife Mary both real and personal except my man Joshua and he is hereby fully authorized to make an convey a proper deed or deeds in fee simple to the purchases of all the lands he may sell and after paying all the costs and charges which may accrue in settling my estate and all the debts that my said wife Mary may leave unpaid, divide the balance as I have heretofore directed between John Vaughan, William Vaughan and the heirs of Stephan Vaughan and Milley Overby and Moraiah her husband, Susannah Arrington and Sarah Blanks, Dicey Puryear and Morgan her husband, Patsy Newton and William her husband, Ann Townsend and her husband John and Elizabeth Sizemore and Daniel her husband, Lucinda Vaughan daughter of Zebadiah Vaughan deceased.

Item 6 At the death of my beloved wife Mary Green should my man Joshua be not sold it is my will he shall be valued and valuation be equally between John Vaughan, William Vaughan and the heirs of Stephan Vaughan and Milley Overby and Moraiah her husband, Susannah Arrington and Sarah Blanks. My said man Joshua shall have the privilege of choosing on heir of them he will service and that one shall pay up to the others their equal parts of valuation of the said man, should my wife sell him then it is my will the purchase shall be advanced among his brothers and sisters as above named equally. Lastly I as nominated and appoint my beloved wife Mary Green to be executives XXX my request John Vaughan and Robert Y Overby to execute to this my last will and testament requiring of the security in testimony whereof I the said Henry Green have here XXX set my hand and seal this 23rd day of July 1840.
