James Vaughan was born on March 30, 1812 in Saint Martinville, St. Martin, Territory of Orleans, son of Edmond Vaughan (1776–~1855) and Elizabeth Smith (1791–1860).[1]
James (27) married Eleanor Zelina Prince (15) (born on May 14, 1824 in St Martinville, St Martin Parish, Louisiana, USA; daughter of François Prince and Rosalie (Savoie) Prince) on January 8, 1840 in St. Mary, Louisiana, United States.[2] Their children were:
In the 1840 census James was in Livingston, Louisiana.[4]
In the 1850 census James (age 34), overseer, with his wife Madam Vaughn (age 34), their sons Ebinazar (age 10), Davalco (age 8), Edmond W. (age 2), their daughter Martha (age 5), (all born in Louisiana) lived in Saint Gabriel, Iberville, Louisiana, United States. Living on the same plantation were Daniel A. Long (age 29), (born in Alabama), overseer, G.C. Collins (age 26), bricklayer, (born in Louisiana), Mark Palico (age 40), cooper, his sife Madam (age 25), David Groman (age 20), cooper, (all three born in France).[5]
James died before 1860, aged about 47.
