Solomon's Surname

As with his father William Veazie, Solomon's surname appears variously as Veazie, Vesey, Veasy, etc. The spelling Veazie appears as often as the others.

Biography

Solomon was born[1] "the 3d. mo. 11th. 1650," in Braintree, Mass., to William and Ellen Veazie. As March was the first month of the year at that time, his "modern" birthdate is May 11, 1650. Solomon married[2] Nov 23, 1680, in Braintree, Mass., Elizabeth Saunders, the daughter[3] of Martin Saunders and Lydia Hardier, born Aug 2, 1663, in Braintree. The will[4] of Martin Saunders mentions wife Lydia, daughter Elizabeth Veazey, her husband Solomon Veazey, and grandson John Veazey. Solomon was elected fenceviewer for the town (Quincy) in 1694 and 1707, and surveyor of highways, 1696[5]. Solomon "Veasey" died[6] Feb 26, 1731/2, in Braintree, Mass.
