Biography
Carmon J. Veinot, 72, born August 17, 1908, of Hemford, Lunenburg County, passed away at the Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater, after a short illness.
Born in Hemfordd, he was the son of the late Ephriam and Mary Ellen (Smith) Veinot.
He was a retired employee of the Nova Scotia Power Corporation.
You are always known as "Pops" To all of us, you were tops. To everyone you were so kind No wonder the name "Pops" you did find. You will be missed so in the coming days. But we have your memories to keep always.
Surviving are his wife, the former Flossie Smith; eight daughters, Mrs. Rosalene Veno and Laverne (Mrs. Loren Snow), both of London, Ontario; Evelyn (Mrs. Bob Smith), Nineveh; Mrs. Hazel Carver and Gladys (Mrs. Ralph Hatt) Lunenburg; Mrs. Leith Dorey, Hemford; and Cheryl and Iris, both at home; six sons, Beverly, Baker Settlement; Linwood, Bridgewater; Carroll, Caledonia; Richard, Bruce, and Merlin ,all at home. A brother, Vernon, New Brunswick; four sisters, Mrs. Violet Crouse, New Germany; Leola (Mrs. Pitt Smith) North Brookfield, Queens County; Mrs. Gladys Shears and Mrs. Ethel Shears, both of Carterville, Newfoundland; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
He was predeceased by three sons, Harold, Leon, and Dwayne; two brothers, Gordon and John and three sisters, Florence, Jane , and Laura.
The funeral service was held from the Emmanuel Union Church, Hemford, on Sunday, April 12, 1980 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Randy Crozsman officiating. The organist was Mrs. Connie Wile.
Pallbearers were Bernie Mosher, Willis Mosher, Richard Varner, Steven Smith, Royden Veinot, and Arnold Wile.
Interment was in Hemford Cemetery.
