According to Kanawha Spectator (V. 1:75) Venable was architect and builder of large frame house for Major Billy Morris, Catherine's father, in 1799. While at work on home, he was attracted to the major's daughter, Kitty, whom he married at end of 1799. (See Atkinson History for more details)
Left no children, and he was one of first to emancipate his slaves.
