Albert Stanley Venn was born in November 1896 at or about Greenvale near Broadmeadows in the Colony of Victoria in what would later become Australia. He was the son of Francis Venn and Laura Howling.
Albert enlisted in the Australian Army (AIF) during WW1 and also served in the Army during WW2.[1]In fact Private Albert Stanley Venn enlisted into the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on the 27th of February 1918. While working as a Bank officer and living in Adelaide, South Australia. His Next of kin was listed as his mother, Mrs L H Venn of No 4 Hardys Road, Torrensville, South Australia. Private Venn stated he had previously served with the 35th Battery Australian Field Artillery. He was assigned to the General Reinforcements (2nd South Australian) and this unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board RMS Orontes on 5 June 1918. Gunner Venn would go on to serve with the 1st Field Artillery Brigade.
He passed away in August 1988 and was laid to rest at the Northern Suburbs Memorial Gardens and Crematorium at North Ryde in New South Wales, Australia. [2]
