Marriage

Samuel Vernon married 10 Apr 1707 by Nathaniel Coddington, Esq., to Elizabeth Fleet of Long Island.
Samuel Vernon, of Newport, and Elizabeth Prince, of Bristol announced their intentions to marry on November 23, 1724; they were married by Nathaniel Cotton, on January 12, 1724-5 in Bristol, Bristol County, Massachusetts Bay.[1]

To all People to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know Ye that We Samuel Vernon of Newport in the County of Newport in the Colony of Rhoad island and Providence Plantations in Newengland Esqr and Elisabeth Vernon his wife For and in Consideration of the sume of One Hundred and Twenty five Pounds currant money of New england to us in hand before the Ensealing hereof well and truly paid by John Newton of Bristol in the County of Bristol in the Province of the Massachusets Bay in New england mariner the Receipt whereof we hereby acknowledge and our Selves therewith fully Satisfyed Contented & paid and thereof and of Every part and parcell thereof do Exonerate acquit and[2] [turn over] And Dischrage the Said John Newton his heirs and assigns forever by these presents Have Given granted Bargained Sold Aliened Infeoffed & Confirmed and by these presents Do fully freely and absolutely give grant Bargain Sell Aliene Enfeoffe Convey & Confirm unto him the Said John Newton his heirs and assigns forever One Certain Piece or Percell of Land Scituate lying & being in Bristol aforesaid Containing five Acres bounded Easterly upon Land of Samuel Howland Southerly on Land of the said John Newton Westerly on a highway Northerly upon Land of Obadiah Papillon late belonging to Stephen Paine To Have & to hold the said granted and bargained and appurtenances to the Same beloning or in any wise appertaining unto him the said John Newton his heirs & assigns forever to his and their only proper use Benefit and Behoof forever and we the Said Samuel Vernon and Elisabeth Vernon our Selves our heirs Executors and administrators do Covenant promise and grant to and with the Said John Newton his heirs and assigns that at And before the Ensealing hereof we are the true sole and Lawfull owners of the above granted & bargained premises and are Lawfully Seized & possessed of ye Same in our own Right as of a good perfect and absolute estate of Inheritance in FeeSimple and have in ourselves Good right full power and Lawfull authority to grant bargain & sell the same in manner as abovesaid and that the said John Newton his heirs and assigns shall force and virtue of these presents Lawfully peaceably and quietly have hold use occupy possess and Enjoy the above granted and bargained acquitted. To all People to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting. Know ye, that Samuel Vernon of Newport in ye County of Newport in the Colony of Rhoad island in Newengland Esqr and Elizabeth his wife one of ye Daughters of ye honourable Nathel Paine Esqr late of Bristol in the County of Bristol deceased Intested For and in Consideration of the Sum of Eighty Two pounds in Bills of Credit to us in hand before the Ensealing hereof, well and truly paid by Charles Church of Bristol in the County of Bristol in the Province of the Massachusets Bay in New england Esqr the Receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge, and our selus therewith fully satisfied and contended, and therof, and of every part and parcel thereof, do exonerate acquit and discharge him said Charles Church and his Heirs, Executors and Administrators for ever by these Presents: HAVE given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed, and confirm, unto him the said Charles Church and his Heirs and Assigns for ever, all those Two Lotts of Land of ours lying in Rehoboth in the County of Bristol which every part of ye estate of ye aforesaid and Nathaniel Paine esqr and was Sett of to her the Said Elisabeth Vernon as part of her portion (viz) one peice of Land containing Twelve Acres lying at a place called the Button woods near Munwheage Swamp bounded as per the Records of Said Rehoboth Lands in the fourth Book of Records page 274 will plainly appear and one other peice of Land Containing Eighteen acres Lying near the Northeast Corner of sd Rehoboth adjoyning upon Atte borough Line and is bounded as per the Records in the fourth Book of Records in sd Rehoboth in page 275 will plainly [appeared crossed out] and at Large appear: to him the sd Charles Church and his heirs and assigns TO HAVE AND TO HOLD, the said granted and bargained Premises, with all the Appurtenances, Priviledges and Commodities to the same beloning, or in any wise appertaining to him the said Charles Church and his Heirs and Assigns for ever. To him and their only proper Use, Benefit and Behoof for ever, And we the said Samuel Vernon & Elisabeth Vernon for our Selves & our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, do Covenant, Promise and Grant to and with the said Charles Church and his Heirs and Assigns, that before the Ensealing hereof, we are the ture sole and lawful Owner of the above bargained premisses, and are lawfully seized and possessed of the same in own proper Right, as as good, perfect and absolute Estate of Inheritance in Fee-Simple : And have in our Selves good right, full power, and lawful Authority, to grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm, said bargained Permisses, in manner as above said, And that he the Said Charles Church and his Heirs and Assigns, shall and may from Time to Time, and at all Times for ever hereafter, by force and virtue of these Presents, lawfuly, peaceably and quietly Have, Hold, Use, Occupy, Possess and Enjoy the said demised and bargained Premises, with the Appurtenances free and clear, and freely and clearly acquitted, exonerated and discharged from all all all manner of former or other Gifts, Grants, Bargains, Sales Leases, Mortgages, Wills, Entails, Joyntures, Dowries, Judgments, Executions, or Incumbrnces of what Name or Nature soever, that might in any measure or degree obstruct or make void this present Deed.
