He was born September 30, 1925, in Levant, KS, to Henry D. and Edith (Atkins) Vette. [1]
He married Irma Jean Purcell prior to 13 January 1945, and they had a son, Dennis Roberts. Hank and Jean subsequently divorced later that year. [2]
Hank married Eileen Eddy on December 25, 1947, in Osborne, KS. [1]
He was a United States Army veteran, serving in WWII and the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He owned Vette Appliance, was a manager at the Case dealership and then spent thirty one years working for Ford-New Holland as a zone manager. Hank enjoyed wood working, repairing and refinishing furniture and was active in restoring the Cooper Barn. He was also a member of the Colby United Methodist Church. [1]
Henry C. “Hank” Vette, 89, of Colby, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandson Jerry K. Vette Jr and twelve siblings.
Hank is survived by his children, Carolyn K. (William) Hedge, Plymouth, MA; Tamera R. Jones, Great Bend, KS and Jerry K. (Sherry) Vette, Garden City, KS; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. [1]
