Biography

According to his birth record, Jesse A. Viles was the son of Abraham and Hannah A. Viles, born in March 1851 in Lowell, Middlesex, Massachusetts. The family lived on Pleasant Street. Abraham was a machinist born in Weston. Hannah was born in Dracut.^[1] From other records, it appears that his father was Albert Viles.

On 23 April 1872, Jesse Albert Viles was initiated in the Grand Lodge of Masons Membership Cards, Wm. North Lodge. He was a gardener and he lived in Lowell, where he was born on 5 March 1851. The entry shows that he had a Vets. Medal, 1927.^[2]

Mary E. Rice and Jesse A. Viles were married at Lowell on 08 Nov 1876. His parents were Albert and Elvira H. Viles. Mary was the daughter of Henry M. and Abby F. Rice.^[3] Mary died on 11 Aug 1910 at Lowell. According to her death record, her parents were Henry M. Rice and Abby F. Hastings.^[4]

In 1900, Jessie A. Viles, a 49 year old veterinary surgeon b. March 1851, lived in a house he owned on Coral Street in Lowell with his wife Mary E., 50 b. April 1850. Both were born in Massachusetts. The couple has been married for 24 years, but Mary has had no children.^[5]

Jesse Albert Viles married Susan A. Elliott on 19 Mar 1914 at Lowell. He was a 63 year old widower, the son of Albert Viles and Hannah E Varnum.. Susan's parents were George P Elliott and Ann D Rogers.^[6]

In 1930, Jessie A Viles, 79, lived with his wife Susan A E Viles, 79, in a place he rented on Coral Street in Lowell. Both were born in Massachusetts.^[7]

Jesse died on 21 Jan 1933.^[2]
