Obituary: Hilda was born in the family home in Nemaha County rural Humboldt, NE October 22, 1919 to Julius and Frieda (Geyer) Volker.
She was baptized on November 16, 1919 and confirmed September 17, 1933 at St. James (Long Branch) Lutheran church by her grandfather Rev. E.F. Geyer.
She completed her elementary education from Prairie Hill School District 46 in Nemaha County Nebraska on June 1, 1934.
Hilda Anna Helena Volker was united in marriage to John W. Dieckhoff of rural Elk Creek, NE on November 6, 1941 at St. James Lutheran Church of rural Humboldt, Nebraska. They were blessed with three daughters and a son.
They lived in the Elk Creek area before moving to Beatrice, Nebraska in 1965 where she worked in the nursery area of Beatrice State Developmental Center until 1988.
Hilda was a charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice where she was active in WELCA and the quilting group. Hilda enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, gardening, embroidery and made many quilts for her family. She enjoyed going to dances where she met many friends.
In her later years she moved to the Villa, Samaritan Springs and most recently to The Good Samaritan Center.
Hilda Anna Helena (Volker) Dieckhoff, 96, of Beatrice died at Beatrice Good Samaritan Society on Thursday, February 25, 2016.
Left with memories are her children and their spouses, 10 grandchildren and their spouses, 17 great-grandchildren and spouses, and 3 great-great-grandsons, as well as a sister and brother-in-law of Waverly, and a sister-in-law of Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1972; daughter, Leola Jensen; sons-in-law, Elmo Schaardt and Marlen Beethe; granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Schaardt; great-grandson, Robert Butler Jr.; brothers & sisters-in-law, Lawrence (Lenora) Volker, Erwin (Luetta) Volker, Oscar and Otto Volker, sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna (Fred) Goos, Laura (Arnold) Ottemann, Helen (Norman) Dirksen; parents-in-law, Henry & Louise Dieckhoff; sister-in-law, Alma (Herman) Michel.
