In English-language legal documents, he is called Lewis Wagner, but his wife's gravestone identifies him by his German name, Johann Ludwig. There is also a listing in the Lunenburg Burial Index for "John Ludwig (Lemi) Wagner Aug 1 1807 - of Wilhelmn & Philippina" [sic], at Feltzen South, which matches the birth year of Lewis Wagner as determined from the 1881 census. This requires more investigation.[1]
