When Eliza was 16 she married Thomas Allen Bell on 30 January 1834 in , Greene, Illinois, United States. The couple had 5 children: Martha Bell, Joshua Bell, William Bell, Thomas Bell and Mary Bell. ^[4]

Eliza died at the age of 42 in 1860. She is not listed on the 1860 census taken July 16, 1860- her daughter Eliza S is listed on the census as being 4 months old. In all likelihood, she died during child-birth. ^[5]
