Biography

Thomas Walker was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

Thomas WALKER, son of Thomas WALKER and Grace WALKER, was born on 7 November 1853 in Moliagul, Colony of Victoria, [1] died on 1 June 1923 in Piangil, Victoria, Australia [2] at age 69, and was buried in Nyah Cemetery, Nyah, Victoria, Australia. [3]

Thomas married Jane BRADBURY, daughter of Robert BRADBURY and Catherine McLAUGHLIN, in 1882 in Moulamein (R.D.), Colony of New South Wales. [4]

Jane was born on 24 November 1861 in Moulamein, Colony of New South Wales, died on 14 February 1950 in Nyah, Victoria, Australia at age 88, and was buried in Nyah Cemetery, Nyah, Victoria, Australia.

They had eight children: Thomas Robert ("Tom"), James William, William ("Brum"), Peter Graham ("Dick"), Grace Elizabeth, Robert Bradbury ("Bob"), George, and Henry Parvey.

    Upon Application this day made by the Proctor for the applicant and upon reading the several affidavits of Thomas Robert Walker, and John Henry Brian Armstrong respectively sworn and filed herein.
    This Court doth order that Letters of Administration of the estate of the said Thomas Walker deceased be granted to Thomas Robert Walker of Piangil in the State of Victoria farmer the son and one of the next of kin of the said deceased
    By the Court - Registrar of Probates.
    In the Supreme Court of Victoria Probate Jurisdiction.
    In the Estate of Thomas Walker late of Piangil in the State of Victoria Farmer deceased intestate
    BE IT KNOWN that on the tenth day of August, One thousand nine hundred and twenty three Letters of Administration of the estate of Thomas Walker late of Piangil in the State of Victoria Farmer deceased intestate who died on the first day of June One thousand nine hindred and twenty three and who had at the time of his death no real estate within the jurisdiction but had personal estate within the jurisdiction sworn not to exceed in value the sum of Eight hundred and ninety six pounds four shillings and two pence were granted to Thomas Robert Walker of Piangil in the State of Victoria Farmer the son and one of the next of kin of the said deceased, he having been first sworn that he would well and truly collect and administer according to law the estate of the said Thomas Walker deceased and would exhibit and deposit in the said office of the Master-in-Equity a true and perfect inventory of the said estate within three months of the order granting administration and a true and just account of his administration of the said estate within fifteen months of the said order.
    GIVEN at Melbourne this third day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand nine hundred and twenty three - W. Pye Acting Registrar of Probates.
    I THOMAS ROBERT WALKER of Piangil in the Sate of Victoria Farmer make oath and say -
    1. That the above-named Thomas Walker deceased died on the first day of June One thousand nine hundred and twenty three at Piangil in the State of Victoria intestate.
    2. The said deceased was married at the time of his death.
    3. The said deceased left no real estate in the State of Victoria but left personal property in the said State not exceeding in value the sum of eight hundred and ninety six pounds four shillings and two pence
    4. The said deceased left him surviving Jane Walker, his widow - Grace Elizabeth Cameron, daughter of deceased, myself this deponent, James Walker, William Walker, Peter Graham Walker, George Walker and Henry Walker, sons of deceased, who are his only surviving next of kin entitled by law to share in his property.
    5. That I am the eldest son and one of the next of kin of the said deceased and am of full age of twenty-one years and I claim to be entitled to administation of his estate.
    6. That I have made careful inquiry and search but am unable to find any will of the said deceased.

    GENERAL NEWS ITEMS. - Marriage
    A quiet wedding took place on the 19th ult. in the Presbyterian church, Swan Hill, the Rev. F. C. Vickerman, B.A., officiating. The contracting parties were Miss Grace Walker, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Walker, of Piangil, and Mr James Thomas Cameron, only son of Mrs A. Cameron, of Piangil. The parents of the bride and bridegroom are very old and highly esteemed residents of Piangil, and the newly-wedded couple are both highly respected. Miss Maggie Cameron, sister of the bridegroom, acted as brides-maid, and Mr Thos Walker as best man. Owing to recent bereavement on both sides the wedding was of a quite nature, there being no fesitives. Mr and Mrs Walker have lost a son at the front, and Mrs Cameron a son and son-in-law.
