Gerhard Georg was a Coal Breaker.

Gerhard Georg Wallenhorst was born on 13 February 1820 in Kotten Große Siebenbürgen, Pye, Osnabrück, Hannover, Deutscher Bund, son of Bernard Henricus Wallenhorst (1777–1848) and Catharina Maria (Kohlbreker) Wallenhorst (~1782–1867).[1] He was baptised on 17 February 1820 in the catholic church St. Alexander in Wallenhorst.[1] His godfather was Gerhard Heinrich Minnerup, and his baptismal witnesses were Georg Wallenhorst und Agnes Klein: Kohlbrecher.[1]

His siblings were:

  1. Catharina Maria Wallenhorst (born 4 September 1805)
  2. Anna Maria Wallenhorst (born 4 February 1807)
  3. Johann Henrich Wallenhorst (born 5 December 1808)
  4. Joseph Henrich Wallenhorst (born 28 July 1810)
  5. Frans Henrich Wallenhorst (born 27 March 1812)
  6. Joseph Jürgen Wallenhorst (born 15 January 1814)
  7. Maria Elisabe Wallenhorst (born 22 October 1815)
  8. Everhard Henrich Wallenhorst (born 1 October 1817)
  9. Anton Wilhelm Wallenhorst (born 9 May 1822)
  10. Maria Elisabeth (Wallenhorst) Feldkamp (born 30 January 1824)
  11. Stephan Heinrich Wallenhorst (born 5 February 1826)

Gerhard grew up in the Kotten building of Vollerbenhof Große Siebenbürgen. Since his father was a Heuerling by profession, the family was comparably poor, and the children needed to contribute to the family income. Hence, Gerhard had started to work as a coal breaker in the nearby Piesberg, which is only a few hundred metres from where they lived.

Unfortunately, his profession and the world's rising hunger for energy caused him to die in an accident while he was breaking coal.[2] He died on 12 December 1842 in Kotten Große Siebenbürgen, aged 22.[2] He was not married and had no children. He was buried on 15 December 1842 in the catholic church cemetery St. Alexander Wallenhorst.[2]
