Biography
Thomas was born in Grattan, Ontario in 1899. He was the son of Thomas Walsh and Mary McHugh.[1][2] Although he was born with the middle name of "Stanislaus," he evidently changed his middle name to "Leslie," going by "Les. He married Loretta Ann McKeown in Palmer, Saskatchewan on September 24, 1923. He was a railroad engineer, and they moved to the United States, arriving on May 16, 1924. They had four children, all born in Detroit:
Mary Catherine (b. Detroit, 20 Jan 1924)
Agnes Geraldine (b. Detroit, 12 Aug 1925)
Eugene Leslie (b. Detroit, 12 Sep 1957)
William Thomas (b. Detroit, May 16, 1930)
He applied for naturalization on June 13, 1935,[3] which was approved on September 22, 1939.[4] The family made their home in Livonia.[5]
He retired to Milan, a farm community south of Detroit, and passed away there.
