This is my great-great grandfather. He was born in Kiebingen, but moved to Niedernau after marrying Johana Teufel who had a couple of illegitimate children. Don't think they were his, but he probably wanted to avoid the scandal connected with the children. He raised the children there, but it seems that they did not stay in that town, since it is hard to find any record of Walters in Niedernau after about 1900. Family record from the Church Register, p.145 of Kiebingen church records found in the Document Book. Death record from the records in Niedernau, 1865.

In a post on http://familyworkings.com/Chat on 30 Sep 2013, Leagen wrote: "I found the boys births but at the LDS (Family Search) site this is what it says. Karl Walter (b) April 29,1838, Josepe (b) May 6,1834, Franz Xavier (b) Dec. 5,1835 and after each it says born in Katholisch (Catholic?), Hausach, Offenburg, Baden. There were several more kids born there to Wendelin Walter and wife Johanna TEUFEL."
