Leonard was born on 20 June 1919 in Ward's Corner, Kent County, NB. He was the son of James Nelson Ward and Nina Gertrude Kierstead.[1]
When Leonard was 26 he married Hazel Alberta (Briggs) Duplisea on 11 April 1946 in Saint John, St. John County, NB.[2]
On an unknown date Leonard was employed. Chimney Sweep.
Known by the family variously as "Len" or "Din", Leonard served in World War 2. with the Royal Canadian Artillery, and the Merchant Navy. He was on the convoy. to Murmansk where the German Navy sank two-thirds of the ships. Resides in British Columbia. "Din" sold his last acre of land at Ward's Corner. in 1998. He was apparently given the nickname "Din" by his grandfather, John. Nehemiah Ward, because of the noise he was always making as a child. He was the last Ward to own land at Ward's Corner.
