Mary passed away in or after 1851. In 1854 at St Thomas's, Stockton he married widow (2) Rebecca (Wren) Walker, daughter of William Wren and Mary Jackson.[1] She had 2 children from her previous marriage. They had 5 further children:

1861 census - Stockton, occupation pilot, with wife Rebecca and children George, Joseph, Rebecca, Emily and Alfred, along with stepchildren Catherine and William Walker.
1871 census - Stockton, occupation river pilot, with wife and children Joseph, Alfred, Mary and step-son William.
He passed away in 1896 in Stockton. His widow passed away in 1912.
Marriage record confirms father's name George Wass and known to be born in Stockton where George lived and died, birth year fits in with George's other children, no clash of names. Wass was not a hugely common name and Stockton was not a particularly large town. George was buried at St Thomas's, the same church where Joseph married.
