Frederick Cyril Waterhouse was born on 26 November 1923 at Oldbury, Worcestershire. [1] His date and place of birth was recorded in both his parents naturalization papers [made separately]. [2]
With his parents Frederick and Gladys [Brookes] Waterhouse, Frederick Cyril immigrated to US, sailing from Liverpool aboard the Sycthia on 2 April 1927 and arriving in New York on 12 April 1927. He was aged 3. The family were intending to stay with Frederick's parents at 837 E 219 St, New York. Frederick was described as being of fair complexion with brown eyes and hair. [3]
In the 1930 US census Frederick and his parents were living with his paternal grandparents at 4314 Boyd Ave, Bronx. Frederick Jnr was aged 6 years. [4]
The family has not been located in the 1940 census.
Fred Cyril Waterhouse completed a WWII Draft Registration card on 30 June 1942. At that time he was living at 305 Elm St, Kearny, Hudson, New Jersey. Aged 18 years, Fred had been born on 26 November 1923 at Birmingham, England. He was employed by Pollack Manufacturing Co, Devon St, Kearny. The name and address of a person who would always know his address was recorded as his mother Mrs. Gladys Waterhouse of 4364 Richardson Ave, Bronx, NY. Physically Fred was described as 5 feet, 8 inches in height and weighed 148 pounds. He had a freckled complexion with blue eyes and light brown hair. Fred had a small growth in front of his right ear. [5]
Frederick joined the Army Signal Corps as a Private on 28 October 1942 at Newark, New Jersey. He was a single man and employed as an electricians apprentice. [6]
Frederick married Geraldine Crane in 1950 at Newark, Essex, New Jersey. [7]
This couple had three children.
Son Frederick Cyril Waterhouse Jr was baptised on 10 April 1954 at the First Presbyterian Church, Woodbridge. The baptismal register recorded he was born on 20 December 1953 at Perth Amboy, New Jersey, the son of Geraldine Crane and Frederick Waterhouse of 66 Willry St, Woodbridge, New Jersey. [8]
When his mother Gladys Waterhouse died in 1975 she had been living with Frederick and family at 31 Galway Place, Boonton, Morris, New Jersey. They were still living in Boonton when Geraldine's mother, Agatha Hickman, died in 1983. [9]
This couple were later recorded as owning a home at 2413 Quaker Landing Road, Greenboro, North Carolina. [10]
Frederick C Waterhouse died on 1 May 2012 aged 88 years. His date of birth was recorded as 26 November 1923 in the Social Security Death Index. [11]

GREENSBORO - Frederick Cyril Waterhouse, 88, of Greensboro, NC, died on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.
A Memorial Service will be held for Mr. Waterhouse at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Guilford Park Presbyterian Church. Internment will be private.
Fred was born on November 26, 1923 in Birmingham, England to the late Gladys Brookes and Frederick Waterhouse. The family came to the US in 1927. He was a graduate of the New York City School System.
Fred was a Veteran of WW II having served in the China/Burma/India Theater.
He retired from the New York Bell Telephone Company after 40 years of service.
He was a member of the Guilford Park Presbyterian Church where he was an ordained Deacon and Elder, also, a long time member of the Greensboro Tar Heel
Barbershop Chorus and the Graytones Quartet.
Fred is survived by his wife, Geraldine Crane, of 62 years, two daughters, Eileen Waterhouse of Harrisonburg, VA., and Carol E. Waterhouse, Greensboro, daughter-in-law, Raegan Russell Waterhouse and two grandchildren, Olivia P. and Andrew F. of So. Berwick, ME., sister-in-law, Elizabeth Crane Perkowski of Toms River, NJ., and two nephews, Michael C. and Frank E. Perkowski of Toms River, NJ., his aunt, Betty Waterhouse DiGennaro and cousins Alex, Tommy and Robert Waterhouse of New York.
Fred was preceded in death by his son, Fred, Jr. in 2002.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Guilford Park Presbyterian Church, Columbarium Fund, 2100 Fernwood Drive, Greensboro, NC 27408
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Geraldine “Gerry” Crane Waterhouse, 91, of Harrisonburg, Va., died on March 15, 2020, at Sunnyside Retirement Community. Geraldine was born on November 20, 1928, in Newark, N.J. to the late Agatha DeGraff and David Edgar Crane. She was a graduate of Irvington High School and Berkeley Secretarial School, East Orange, N.J.
She was a former Sunday School teacher and a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church, a member of Massanutten Presbyterian Women’s Association. She loved flowers and birds and the beauty of God’s world. She enjoyed sewing, needlework and quilting. She baked desserts weekly for about 20 years for the Greensboro Urban Ministry.
Geraldine is survived by two daughters, Eileen Waterhouse and Carol Waterhouse of Harrisonburg, Va.; daughter-in-law, Raegan Russell of South Berwick, Maine; two grandchildren, Olivia P. Waterhouse of Washington, D.C. and Andrew F. Waterhouse of Brooklyn, N.Y. and two nephews, Michael C. Perkowski of Bethel, Vt. and Frank E. Perkowski (Sue) of Toms River, N.J.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Fred; son, Fred Jr.; sister, Elizabeth Crane Perkowski and brother-in-law, Frank M. Perkowski of Toms River, N.J.
A memorial service is being planned for a date yet to be determined. Interment will be private at Guilford Park Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, N.C.
The family would like to thank the medical staff and employees of Sunnyside for the stellar care and kindness they showed Gerry during her time there.
