Biography

Albert Morton Watkins was born in 1882 in the district of Frome, South Australia, Australia [1], the son of Thomas Watkins and Elizabeth Emily Ind and the brother of John James Watkins, William Herbert Watkins, Mary Ann Ind (Watkins) Gaskin, Torrens May (Watkins) Renton, Harriet Keziah (Watkins) Brand, Edmund Kerby Watkins, Ethel Blanche (Watkins) Alford, Gilbert Thomas George Watkins, Emily Isabel (Watkins) Davies and Jane Elnor Watkins.

He married Tillie Maria Smart in 1911 in Burra, South Australia, Australia [2]and they were the parents of Gladys Myrtle (Watkins) Bell, Thomas Keith Watkins, Frederick Albert Watkins, Alan Edmund Watkins and Walter James Watkins.

Albert killed, whe he fell from a horse, on 17 June 1950 in Hallett, South Australia, Australia.
Mr Albert M. Watkins, 67 year-old Ranger for the District Council of Hallett, was killed on Sunday afternoon as a result of a fall from his horse.
Mr Watkins was droving a couple of stray horses to the Hallett Pound when the accident occurred. It appears that when nearing the cross roads near Mr Kelly's about two miles out of the township he decided to head-off the stray horses and prevent them from turning at the cross roads. To do so he leaned forward and the horse he was riding broke in to a canter, but stumbled and Mr Watkins was thrown heavily to the ground on to his head, and the base of his skull was fractured. The horse he was riding was a very quiet one.
Mrs A. J. Kelly who was in a paddock close by, saw the accident and afterwards obtained aid. The late Mr Watkins was a popular resident of Hallett, and his death came as a shock to his many friends.
He was married and leaves a widow, four sons and two daughters
.[3][4][5].
He was buried on 19 June 1950 in the Hallett Cemetery, Hallett, South Australia, Australia [6][7] [8].
