Biography

James Watkinson, BAPTISM - (NOT birth) - record for 29 May 1642, SHOWS his name written in LATIN form of James, which is Jacobi. It was a common practice at that period for Church of England clergymen to write names in their LATIN equivalent.

NOTE The Church of England came in to being in 1536 when King Henry VIII of England broke away from the Church at Rome. After that date it was punishable by fines and imprisonment to practice the Roman Catholic faith. The GUNPOWDER PLOT of 5 NOV 1605 was brought about by those who wanted to practice their Roman Catholic Faith.
