Biography

Perry David Watts was born on 13 March 1873 in Wayne County, Illinois, United States, son of Oliver Perry Watts and Hester A. (Harvey) Watts.^[1]

Perry married Pencie Ardelia Wyatt on 17 July 1898 in Searcy Co., Arkansas. ^[2]Their children were:

1. Charles L. Watts
2. Ottus Bryan Watts
3. Jewell Watts
4. Frank Wyatt Watts
5. Ruble M. (Watts) Blythe.

Perry died on 18 October 1929 in Searcy County, Arkansas aged 56. He is buried in Hall Cemetery, Eula, Arkansas.^[3]

Research Notes

As a side note: I suspect this grave in Hall Cemetery in Richland, Eula, Searcy county, Arkansas. is NOT the child of Perry D. Watts, who was born March 13, 1872 .. He would only have been 7 years old, at the time this infant was born. Pencie Wyatt Watts, she was born Jan. 27, 1881 ... she was'nt even born yet, when Infant Watts was born in July 1879. Pencie's first child was born in1899.

This infant, "could be a sibling", of Steven Decatur Watts & Perry David Watts. Both of these boys, lost both parents before age 10 ...

Looking for info on Oliver and Hester Harvey Watts who died within six weeks of each other in 1876 in Richland Valley, Searcy County, AR. They had two sons, Steve and Perry David, who were raised by the Steve Arnold and Perry Lunsford Wyatt families. Oliver had a brother, Steve, who was traveling through AR around 1900 and found his missing nephews. He stayed in the area for a while but moved on. Oliver was born in either Ohio or Kentucky.

I am researching a friend's family. My friend, Berniece Watts Harris told me she knew nothing of her family. Her grandfather, Perry Watts was an orphan and she didn't know who the parents were or who raised him or anything. She knew her mom's surname and her dad, Jewell Watts and also that her grandmother was called "Aunt Pense" ..... that is all the information she gave me to go on except Searcy County AR, Snowball and St. Joe area. This lady is probably 70 and is my landlady and a real sweetheart. I had been researching some Watts who I am related to and decided to try to delve a little deeper and PROVE I could find SOMETHING. Well, I had hit the proverbial stone wall until I read this today. Perry David Watts married Pensie Wyatt, daughter of Perry Lunsford Wyatt (whom he lived with). I find them married and living next door to the Wyatt's in the 1900 Searcy County census. They are living with the James Cash family. James Cash was the brother of Perry Wyatt's wife, Kitty Cash. Perry David Watts and Pensie Wyatt had Jewell Watts and according to the internet they had a son Charles who died in 1936 in Texas, but I have to check that out. According to the 1900 census Perry and Pensie had been married one year, had l child but it had died. Perry was 26 in the 1900 census and Pensie was 18.

Jewell Watts, their son, married Rannie Woodard, daughter of George Woodard and Mary Smith. She was born in 1908. Rannie Watts and Mary Smith Woodard are buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Harrison, Arkansas. Jewell and Rannie only had one child, Berniece. I don't know when she was born but I am going to ask.

Wow! I am related to Perry David Watts b. 13 Mar 1872 in Ohio, who married one of Perry Lunsford Wyatt's daughters Pensa Ardelia WYATT b. 27 Jan 1882 at Point Peter, Searcy Co. AR. d.23 May 1964 St Joe, Searcy Co. AR. Perry Lunsford WYATT was md to Matilda Catherine "Kitty" CASH.

They had had five children, Charles b 21 Nov. 1901, d 1936; Otis Bryant b. 1902; Jewell b. 1908; Ruble b.1911; Frank Wyatt Watts b. 13 Oc 1913, d.3 Sept 1993.

Frank Wyatt Watts was my Uncle who was married to Pencie SWITZER. I have a little more info if you need more, but not lots of detail. But that might be a piece to the puzzle. I always thought wondered who the parents were of Perry David WATTS, and if there was a connection to Pensa Ardelia WYATT's father being Perry also.
