Joel was in Red River County, Texas during the 1840 census from his obituary... Born Dec 30h 1846 in Pike Co, Ala. Died at home below Manning, Tex., at 2:pm Saturday April, 8h 1927; age 80 years, 3 mo, 9 days. His parents, Larkin C. Weaver and wife, who was Miss Caroline Grimes, moved to Angelina when he was 2 year old, made a crop on the farm of I.P. Renfoes father, then trekked back to Ala. in an ox wagon, returning in 1852 and settled in 500 yards of where Joel lived all his married life. At 17, he enlisted and served all thru the War Between the States driving beef for the confederates. After the war he married Miss Susie McVey. Mrs. Francis Crain, Mrs. Martha Thompson, Eli, Billie, Dave, Johnnie and Cal survive. After their mother's death, he & Mrs. Alice Hammons were married and Ricard, Rbt, Charlie, & Irene survive him, 1 small girl died. His daughter, Mrs. Mary Outlaw, by his first wife was dead. Sunday at 2:p.m, Eld. Elijah Mott conducte the burial service at the family "God's acre" his sisters, Mrs. C.A. Ricks of Lufkin and Mrs. Lucinda Eddings of Bronson, and children, Caroline and Larkin, and son-in-law Leroy Hammock, and about 300 mostly relatives by blood or marriage being present. From youth he was a Baptist, and never was bail-before the courts, except as juror or witness.
