Bert Weavers is an Anzac who served in World War One.

Biography

Albert was born in 1897. He is the son of John Weavers and Clementina Evans. [1]

Albert George Weavers Service number 14011 embarked 26 June 1916 from Wellington, New Zealand aboard HMNZT 56 or HMNZT 57 the Tahiti or Maunganui He wasa a Private with the 14th Reinforcements, Otago Infantry Battalion, D Company. At the time of call up he was employed as a Sawmill Hand, probably at his father's mill. [2] He was returned to NZ aboard the Ruahine in November 1917 (arriving NZ January 1918) , discharged for being underaged.

Despite being a returned soldier, he was named in a Military Call up, 1918, for Tuatapere, Southland, [3] . concerning the Military Service Board. "The above Board sat at Invercargill on Wednesday, and at Riverton on Thursday, when the following cases of local interest were dealt with ; — A. G. Weavers, a returned soldier, Orawia, was granted time until September" [4]


He later owned a Bus company at Makarewa and a 10 acre block which was a Chicken Farm . He married Louisa Margaret Molloy in 1922 [5] He passed away in 1971 [6]

Speden,Tokanui) and Wallace (New Plymouth), and loved grandfather of his granchildren; aged 73 years. Cut flowers only please. [7]
