William Evans Webb South African 1820 Settler and Descendants

He was the son of Christopher Evans and Margaret Webb<She was the daughter of Christopher Evans and Margaret Webb.[1][2]

He married Dorothea Catherine Duffy on 2 July 1919 in East London.[3] Birth 1894 calculated from death date and age.[3][4]

He served in the South African Overseas Expeditionary Force - 4th SA infantry in the First World War[5] He was a motor mechanic at the time of his attestation.[5] At the time of death he was a reduction worker at Consolidated Main Reef Mines in Mariasburg.[3]

He died in Johannesburg, age 45 years and 10 months, on 26 August 1949. He left his widow, Dorothea Catherine Evans-Webb.[3]

They had one child - Maureen Shirley Evans Webb.[3]. She married Joseph James Chapman in Durban in 1929.[6]

Research Notes

He lost an arm at the battle of Delville Wood.[7]
