Betsy Webster was born in about 1818, probably in Yorkshire. She was the daughter of painter George Webster, and the sister of George Webster (1809-) and Frances Webster (bef.1807-) who were both born in Knaresborough, Yorkshire.
Betsy married Charles Smith on 19 Nov 1838 at St Mary's Church in Edge Hill, Lancashire. Both were of full age (21 or more), and neither had been married before; Charles was a painter living in Green Bank St Helens, Betsey lived in Chatham(?) Place Edge Hill. Their fathers were named as Benjamin Smith (stonecutter) and George Webster (painter). The witnesses were Margaret Gilbert and George Webster.

Their son Charles was born in 1839 in Knaresborough, Yorkshire.

Their daughter Elizabeth was born in 1840 in St Helens, Lancashire.

By June 6th 1841, they were living in Liverpool Road, Eccleston; Charles was a painter etc.

Betsy died in 1850, aged 32, in Prescot district.
