EVENING POST, VOLUME XXXII, ISSUE 50, 15 JULY 1886, PAGE 2 On enquiry from the Hospital authorities at a late hour this afternoon as to the state of the young man, Robert Welby, who was injured at the Te Aro Foundry, we learned that the patient was progressing as well as could be expected.[1]
He is buried in the Levin (Old) Cemetery in Levin [2][3]
EVENING POST, VOLUME LX, ISSUE 117, 14 NOVEMBER 1900, PAGE 2 A former resident of Wellington Mr. R. J. Welby, for some time past one of the Horowhenua village settlers, died at the settlement on Friday last, at the age of 45 years. He was a native of Scotland, and some years ago, while in Wellington, he sustained injuries through a crane falling upon him in a foundry. From the effects of this accident he ever afterwards suffered. His decease was due to lung disease.[4]
