Vada Wells Herring Pitts, 97, of Mount Pleasant and formerly of Raymondville, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, in Mount Pleasant.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at Coopers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. Mrs. Pitts was born on Dec. 29, 1910 in Lockhart, the daughter of J. D. and Ora Wells. After graduating from Robstown High School she married M. R. Herring. He was later killed in a private plane crash in 1947. She married Robert Pitts in 1950. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Russell and Barbara Herring of Clint, Eileen (Herring) and Jerry Cobb of Kerrville, and Beverly (Herring) and Tracy Finigan of Cookville; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both her husbands; a grandson, Danny Herring; her parents; and a sister, Lena Mae LeGrand.
