He Attended University of Pennsylvania Medical College.
He married Jane Caroline (Ewing) Eakin and they had one daughter, Jane Ewing Wendel
He refused to enter the Confederate Army as a doctor. He felt that the residents of Murfreesboro needed him. He practiced medicine in Murfreesboro for 50 some years.He passed away in 1893.
