Biography

Percy was born in 1892. He was the illegitimate child of Florence Frances West.^[1] He passed away in 1916.

Percy enlisted in the Australian Army on 22 June 1915. At the time, he gave as his Next of Kin,"Father, John West". ( John West was actually Percy's grandfather and this was to create some difficulties when Percy died; his "Next of Kin" could not be contacted; and his mother, Florence, was not readily recognised as his legal Next of Kin.)

Six months after landing in France, Percy was admitted to hospital on 15 December 1916 and died on 28 December 1916 from Tuberculosis. He was buried in the Etretat Churchyard Extension Cemetery.^[2]

Percy's name appears on the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.^[3]
