Biography

Birth

George Francis West was born on 1st June 1876 in Marylebone, Middlesex. He was the son of Samuel Berrell West and his wife Mary Brealey West.^[1] His baptism took place at St Marylebone, Westminster, Middlesex on 2nd July 1876. His father stated on the register that he was a coach maker and that the family were living at 59 Earl Street at the time. Both his birth and baptism dates were recorded on the register.^[2]

Marriage

George Francis West and Florence Elizabeth Wakenell were married by licence at St Peter's, Paddington, London on 27th October 1901.^[3] George was 25, a bachelor working as a postman and living at 20 Delaware Crescent, the son of Samuel Beryl West who was a publican. Florence was 24, a spinster, living at 51 Amberley Road and the daughter of Thomas Wakenell who was a carpenter. They each signed their own name on the register and the witnesses to the marriage were Thomas Wakenell and Lizzie Dodd.^[4]
