Alexander was born about 1784. He was the son of Samuel Wheelock and Dinah Leland. In 1819 he was named as an heir in his father's probate proceedings. He was deeded land together with his brother Luther, and it is likely that they lived together. Based on the census records, it appears that Luther was alive in 1820, but was no longer in the household by 1830.
