Biography

Benjamin was born on 24 October 1879 in Kossuth, Manitowoc Co., WI. He was the son of Joel Whitcomb and Mariam A. Ferdon.^[1]

In 1910 Benjamin (age about 30) was living in Ward 31, Chicago, Cook Co., IL. Note: In 1910, Benjamin A. Whitcomb, 30yob. WI, worked as a salesman for a "chemist manufacturer." He lived in a place he rented with his wife of 7 years, Elizabeth A., 30yo b. CAN, and daughter Elizabeth B., 6yo b. IL. Benjamin's father-in-law Andrew Nicol, 80yo b. SCOTLAND, mother-in-law Elizabeth, 74yo b. SCOTLAND, and sister-in-law Jessie Nicol,42yo b. CAN, were all living with the family. Elizabeth came to the US in 1898. Her parents have been marriedfor 50 years and came in 1860, and sister-in-law Jessie came in 1893. Benjamin's father was born in WI and his mother inNY.^[2]
