Biography

All of the sons of George Washington White had nicknames. Walter's nickname was "blacky". His hair was very dark and appeared black. They were raised near in Garden City, Mankato, Minnesota. His brother, Allen, was "Red", as Allen had red hair. To my knowledge, he was from a family of all boys. His father, George, born in a wagon train, was raised by an uncle in Missouri on the "plantation" [farm] next to Frank and Jesse James.

Enter a personal reminiscence or story.
Walter, my grandfather used to tell stories about his parents and grandparents. I remember that his mother's family worked in a logging camp where her mother was the first white woman that the indians had seen. He also talked about them helping build the Erie Canal. I wish I knew all the details. His daughter, Mom, was sick of hearing them, so didn't pass many along to me.
