Biography

Frances was born on 25 February 1885, at 6 Charles Street, Jarrow, Co Durham. She was the 10th child of John White and Jane (Dean) White . ^[1]

James William Shields married Frances Sarah White on 25 May 1907 in South Shields Register Office. She was his second cousin -- his paternal grandmother and her maternal grandmother were sisters. They had 7 children born alive, of whom 3 reached adulthood. They have very few living descendants.^[2]

Frances died in Darlington Memorial Hospital in 1972. She died from a thrombo-phlebitis. ^[3]
