Oramel Whittaker was Wounded in Action at the Battle of Resaca during United States Civil War.
Oramel was born in 1841 to Samuel P. Whittaker and Lydia Robinson. Oramel enlisted in Company H of the 103rd OVI on 9 Aug 1862 as a Private. He was wounded (shot in the abdomen) at the Battle of Resaca on 14 May 1864. He was discharged with a surgeons certificate of disability on 1 Jun 1865 in Jeffersonville, Illinois. After the war he moved to Bengal Township, Michigan where he was a Farmer. Oramel married Louisa M. Lyon on 7 Jul 1867 in Bengal Township, Michigan. He passed away in 1912.
