His father Isaac Sr. died at the age of 28 on November 20, 1754. [2] He died intestate and his widow Ruth was appointed administrator of his estate. His inventory was assessed on December 6, 1754. [3]
On October 12, 1757, widow Ruth was granted guardianship of their son Isaac Whittier, minor under the age of 14 years. [4]
His mother Ruth married second, Matthias Hoyt on April 3, 1759. [2][5]
On March 28, 1769, Isaac Whittier, minor above the age of 14 years, chose his 'father-in-law', Matthias Hoyt, Innholder of Amesbury, as his guardian. [4]
Isaac Jr. married Rhoda Sargent at Amesbury, May 2, 1776. His wife Rhoda was baptized there on July 27, 1755, the daughter of Robert Sargent and Ann Coffin. [2]
Rhoda died at Amesbury on May 15, 1794 when she was 38 years old. [2][6]
Rhoda's father Robert wrote his will on October 13, 1797 and it was proved on March 10, 1808. In it he names among his heirs, my grandchildren, children of my daughter Rhoda Whittier, deceased [7]
Those signing receipts acknowledging payment on January 22, 1811, by Amos Sargent, Rhoda's brother and executor of Robert's estate included:
John Whittier, Joshua Whittier, Edmund Whittier, James Whittier, Rhoda Whittier, Thomas Whittier, Sally Patten [7]
Colonel Isaac Whittier died on February 18, 1808. [2]
