Sarah was the daughter of Robert and Martha Wiggin and was born in Stepney, Tower Hamlets, in the East End of London. Robert was a Mariner and Sarah had at least 3 sisters, all born in the same area of London.
Charles was a Baker and inherited property so the family were not poor and over the next 16 years had at least 9 children, the final 2 being twin daughters.
In 1841 Sarah was in a house with a number of other people but none were Charles. She had baby Charles with her
