Prominent Citizen Called By Death Noah Wike, Retired Business Man, Dies at Home Here Following Long Illness Ralph Bierly, Superintendent of Somerville Schools, Answers Final Summons
After hovering near for several weeks, death finally claimed Noah Wike, retired business man, at his home here last Sunday at 12:05 a.m. He had been suffering from heart and kidney trouble for years,his final illness, however, dating from last September. He had been bed fast for the past four weeks. The final summons called him at the age of 76 years, four months and seven days.
Born at Johnsville, Ohio, Mr. Wike spent his entire life in this vicinity. In 1891, Mr. Wike located here in the undertaking and furniture business, following this occupation locally until 1906 when he retired from business life. Previous to coming to Lewisburg, he was engaged in the same business at Brookviile for two years.
He was married in 1871 to Miss Anna E. Smith.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the local United Brethren church, of which Mr. Wike was a member. Rev. M. W. Mumma, local pastor, was in charge. Local Odd Fellows participated in the final rites, Mr. Wike being a member of the Gem City Lodge, No. 705, I.O.O.F., of Dayton, and of the local Encampment. Interment was made in Roselawn cemetery.
Survivors are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. S.E. Rasey, of Dayton, and Mrs. W. B. Tucker, of Lewisburg; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Weis of Dayton, and Mrs. Roller of Brookville; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Noah was born in 1848. He passed away in 1924.
