Elizabeth married Thomas Hough (c. 1537 Leighton and Thornton Hough - buried at Neston on 27 Nov 1592) the son of Richard Hough and Christean Calveley. The family of Hough had been established at Thornton Hough, in the Wirral, for at least five generations before it produced Thomas Hough.

Notes:

  • Leighton Thornton Hough line: The del Hogh line became known as the Leighton Thornton Hough line when abt. 1330 Richard del Hogh married Ellen, dau of Roger Thornton, who was also heiress of William de Leighton, hence the manors of Thornton and Leighton passed to the del Hogh family[6]. The del Hogh surname was eventually changed to Hough.
  • The township of Leighton, which is on the banks of the Dee, is located about twelve miles from Chester. In the Doomsday survey, it was included among the possessions of Robert de Rodelent; and after his death, was given to the baron of Montalt, under whom it was held by William de Leighton, 6th Edward II His grand-daughter and heiress conveyed the manors of Thornton and Leighton in marriage to Richard del Hoghe or de la Hough, and from their their descendants, the former obtained the name of Thornton Hough.
  • The family of the Houghs continued in uninterrupted possession until the death of Wiliam Hough, 27 Elizabeth, who left one only daughter and heiress, Alice married to William, second son of Thomas Whitmore of Thurstanston, Esq. From the inquisition at the death of her father, she appears to have succeeded to several manors, and property in eleven townships, in Wirral. By the marriage of Bridget, grand-daughter of of this William Whitgmore and Alice his wife, to her second husband, the son of Viscount Savage, of Rocksavage, the property was conveyed to that family; and by the subsequent marriage of another Bridget, grand-daughter of the one named above, to Sir Thomas Mostyn, as Mentioned under Neston, the estates and manor of Leighton were, in the same manner, conveyed to him, and they remain the property of his descendant, the Hon. E. M. Lloyd Mostyn.[7]
