Biography

Burton was born in New York in 1875, most likely in Schoharie County, New York. He is the son of Charles Wilbur and Mary Zeh. Burton's father died prior to the 1880 census. His mother later remarries in 1893, when Burton is nearly grown. His occupation was house painter (1905) and machinist (1915). He married Margaret Hinman in 1895. Children Helen (1896) and Perry (about 1904) were born to this marriage. Daughter Helen died in Dec 1918, possibly a victim of the Spanish flu. Burton died in 1948, in Schenectady, New York. Wife Margaret died in 1951. All three are buried in Vale Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.

Note: Some records spell the last name as Wilber; some spell it as Wilbur.
