Biography

John was born to Parke and Priscilla (Payson) Williams in Roxbury on 6 June 1706.[1]

John Williams married (1) Alice Metcalfe on 30 June 1736 in Lebanon and had the following children there:[2][3]

  • Eunice , b. 11 June 1737, m. David Hamilton
  • Alice, b. 25 May 1739, m. Solomon Hutchinson
Alice Metcalf Williams died 22 Oct 1740

John Williams then married (2) Margaret Metcalfe on 24 Aug 1741 in Lebanon and had the following child there:[2]

  • John, b. 25 May 1742, died 29 June 1761 at New Haven, in his 19th year.[4]

John and Margaret Williams removed to Sharon, Connecticut, where they had the following children:[5]

  • Solomon, b. 25 Feb 1744, died 6 May 1745
  • William, b. 14 Apr 1746, died two days later
  • William, b. 21 Mar 1747
  • Asahel, b. 29 Mar 1749
  • Margaret, b. 6 May 1752 (another record says she was the daughter of other parents)
  • Hannah, b. 29 Jan 1754, m. Abel Belknap
  • Samuel, b. 29 Dec 1758

Col. John Williams died in Sharon, Litchfield, Connecticut Colony on 14 Mar 1774, in the 68th year of his age.[6]
