Unlikely References

There is a marriage record from Edgar County, Illinois, that states that a Henry Miller married a Lydia Winecope on December 2, 1839.[4] It seems unlikely that this record refers to this Henry and Lydia as their first child, Alexander, was born was born in 1835. Perhaps Lydia was Henry's second wife? Note: When Alexander enlisted for the Civil War, there was another Miller, Nicholas, who was also from Wapello and was a couple of years older. Alexander and Nicholas mustered on the same day. Nicholas went on to die of disease November 16, 1862, in Springfield, Missouri.

There is a civil war pension record for a Henry B. Miller, with widow Lydia A. Miller, who served in D. 13, Illinois, Infantry.[5] This record describes a claim by Henry's widow, Lydia. This Lydia died before her husband, Henry, so it seems unlikely she could have made a widow's claim.
