Biography

Samuel Winfield was born on 10 September 1854 in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, the son of Margaret Augusta (Nolan) Winfield and James Winfield.

He was a farmer on the Bellarine Peninsula, Victoria in the Drysdale area.

He married Esther Mary Hewitt in March 1878 in Victoria.^[1] Their children were:

• Margaret Theresa Winfield (1879–1963)
• Ellen Elizabeth Winfield (1880–1950)
• Patrick Winfield (1882–1970)
• James Winfield (1884–1962)
• John Winfield (1885–1946)
• Mary Alice Winfield (1896–1981)

Esther died in August 1913.

Samuel remarried in 1917 in Victoria, to Ellen Cameron.^[2]

Samuel died on 1 September 1933 in Queenscliff, Victoria, aged 78 years.^[3]
