20 Nov 1788, Perquimans, North Carolina

I Hannah Griffin being week of Body but of Sound & disposing mind and Memory do make and ordain this to be my Last will and Testament in Manner and form following Viz.

First It is my will and desire that all my Just debts & funeral Expenses be paid by my Executors hereafter named

Second, I Give and bequeath unto my son William Griffin One of my work oxen & One Sow Pig to him & his Heirs forever

Third -- I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Miriam Lamb One Year old Hogg to her and her heirs forever

Fourth, I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Esther Copeland One Womans riding Saddle to her and her heirs forever

Fifth. I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Griffin One Three years old Hepher. One Bed and furniture and Two Pewter Plates for Ever

Sixth. I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Griffin. One Three years owld Hepher One Bed & furniture and One Linen wheel to her and her heirs forever

Seventh I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Gulielma Griffin, One Bed and furniture one Pewter Dish Two Pewter Plates, to her and her Heirs forever

Eighth I Give and Bequeath unto my son James Griffin All my Stock of Cattle Hoggs Sheeps One Horse of all my Household & Plantation Utensils, and In Horse of all my Estate of what Kind or sort soever, wherever To be found, and Not Heretofore desposed off to him & his Heirs forever

And Lasly I constitute Nominate & appoint James Griffin my Son as my Executor to this my Last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this 20th day of 11th Month 1788. Hannah (her mark) Griffin (Seal)

Perquimans County } January Inferior Court D. 1789 -- The within Will was Duly proved in Open Court by the Oath of Josiah Griffin one of the subcribing thereto at the Same time James Griffin the Exer therein Named was Qualified Agreeable to Law Test: J. Harvey C. C. C.
