William Walter Wippell was born in 1893 at Victoria, Australia. He was a son of William Wippell and Letitia Thomson.[citation needed]
He married Nilma Emmaville Tame in 1919 in Victoria.[1]
He served in the Australian Imperial Force during The Great War; enlisted 20th January 1916, returned to Australia 31st March 1919.[2] He was attached to 8th Battalion & posted to France, before being transferred to 1st Headquarters where he served the rest of the military campaign before returning to Australia.
